As coaches, we work to make Tsunami Softball an experience that teaches you things about yourself on and off the field, which you can carry forward throughout the rest of your life. Our commitment is to grow ourselves and our players.
Our Commitment to our players
To respect and encourage you in your personal and team goals while pushing you to see your potential. To listen and to build you physically and mentally so you can:
- face challenges head on
- gain confidence
- have positive self-criticism
- work through failures
- learn to work with/as a team
- play at a higher level
If you would like to coach please reach out to Sheryl and she will get you registered. It is then your responsibility to make sure you:
- Have a background check passed
- Be SafeSport Certified
- Pass a Concussion Awareness Course
There must be at least one coach that is Ace Certified on the field at all times.
Coach Resources are plentiful!
Here are some solid options to get great material for teaching fundamentals-collegiate level as well as new ideas for drills and practice planning.
Additional resources:
Videos of drills and list of books-
LL and USA Rule differences-
LL rules do not include Bylaws and Inter-league Rules which may take precedence depending on your location/ who you are playing.
College Recruitment-
Captain Selection-
Idea that was shared at the 2025 Coaches Convention in Las Vegas by the Nebraska Coaching Staff:
When selecting captains intentionally select players that;
- Lead themselves well. (not perfectly, we are all human)
- One must be someone everyone can relate to.
- One must be someone who isn't getting a ton of playing time.
Captain Rights:
- There is an open door policy between coaches and captains- meaning captains can contact their coaches anytime (As a youth program you must have another adult involved in communication for the players safety and yours.)
- Conflict that is unable to be worked out- Go to your coach. Coach mindset: "Me go with you"
- Players have the authority to be direct.
As a coach:
80% listening, 20% talking (or less).
Your body language says 55% and your tone says 38% leaving 7% for spoken words.
